Brady - Asia Pacific expands R & D capabilities

SINGAPORE, 26 September, 2003 - Brady-Asia Pacific Managing Director A. S. Hon and R & D Director Dave Dreifus were on hand to cut the opening ribbon on Sept. 12, 2003, officially launching the expanded Asia-Pacific Technical Service and Research & Development (R&D) Center, based at Brady-Singapore.

The expanded research and development laboratory, which was first established in June 1998, expands technical service and support capabilities to customers in the Asia-Pacific region and supplements Brady’s current R & D and technical efforts in the U.S. and Belgium.

"Our ability to support product and R & D development in Asia-Pacific is critical to our growth as our markets in this region continue to expand," said Hon. "With close proximity to our customers and target markets, the center allows us to respond to customer requests regionally, thereby enhancing our competitiveness and our ability to venture into new opportunities previously unavailable to us."

According to Brady-Singapore’s Technical Manager Dr. Chieng Tiong Han, who was instrumental in the launch the newly updated center, the lab is now fully equipped to perform physical, aging, environmental and/or chemical tests. The center can also conduct product evaluations that are customer focused, such as conducting specific application testing, competitive testing, material performance testing, product modifications, UL & CSA approvals, etc, which helps Brady to remain competitive.

Internally, the center will also work closely with Brady operations to improve manufacturing processes and product quality initiatives.

In addition to the humidity and UV chambers (shown at left), the center is fully equipped with testing equipment such as a taber abraser, adhesion release tester, tack tester, tensile tester, thermal transfer printers, shear tester, ovens, freezer, etc,
