The features of SENTINEL encompass four key areas to provide the foundation for a scalable, customizable, full-featured label printing solution for ERP:
PLATFORM AND PRINTER INDEPENDENT
The host application can run on any platform—PC, Mini or Mainframe. SENTINEL is installed on a PC workstation or on a server running under Windows™ 95/98 or NT.
Any virtual network connection (LAN/WAN) can be used. SENTINEL requires no specific device or adapter and uses standard communication protocol.
SENTINEL Print Pack is compatible with more than 600 different thermal printers or any Windows™ supported printer driver.
Works with virtually any thermal, dot matrix or line barcode printer at full printer speed with NO delay for bar code imaging. Uses built in native bar codes and fonts for speed and allows TrueType fonts for design flexibility. | |
EASY INTEGRATION
No programming is required to implement SENTINEL – simply install it, configure the printing process and you are up and running.
SENTINEL provides default parameters for setting up the printing process – on a new process there may be no need to perform any setup. If customization of the data stream is required, it is simple to define with a minimum of effort.
Accepts data in ASCII, Raw Data or ODBC format.
SECURITY
SENTINEL does not directly touch the database, so the database remains separate and secure from the printing process.
SENTINEL creates an error log that records failed print jobs. If an error occurs the data file is not deleted, it remains intact. Once the error is resolved, the file can be printed without data loss.
NT SERVICE
SENTINEL can be set up to function as an NT Service, as shown in the figure below. If the server shuts down, SENTINEL is automatically restarted when the server is rebooted. Since no operator is required to be logged into the print server, it provides a high level of security and ease of administration.
